David comes to Unispace with a wealth of design and leadership experience, having worked in the industry for more than 25 years.
Originally from Melbourne, David is international in his outlook: his experience showcases a varied career in Australia, Asia and the United Arab Emirates that has seen him work across the residential, commercial, workplace, education and hospitality sectors.
David cites the four years he was based in Bangkok with Woods Bagot as a particularly formative period; he says "The experience refined my ability to deliver highly creative design, while further developing my client service and people management skills."
Simon Pole, Global Design Director expanded on David’s appointment, saying: “With David’s experience in strategic thinking, managing and building interior design teams, he has the perfect skills to support our continued growth. In addition, his experience working across multiple sectors allows us to continue to explore and evolve the future workplace experience; bringing insights from learning environments and new ideas in hospitality.
David will be working closely with the Australian studios and will be helping strengthen the regional connections and knowledge-sharing with New Zealand, Asia and beyond, from Unispace’s Melbourne studio.”
Further, David sees an important part of his new role as working as a cross-discipline ‘bridge’ between Unispace’s uniquely integrated design and delivery arms, to ensure a seamless client experience.
He is also excited to explore the confluence of hospitality and workplace design trends, having noted that the emergence of ‘business lounge’ experiences, where clients and staff co-work, is redefining the traditional office environment.
