Built upon a previous relationship with our studio in Sydney, Australia, we collaborated with Herbert Smith Freehills to provide design, delivery and FF&E services for their existing fitted-out space in Canary Wharf.
We were appointed as a turn-key contractor and therefore provided project management from inception to completion. We worked swiftly against an expiring lease to provide guidance on how to maximise what could be retained versus what needed to be altered.
For the design, the proposed material specification was chosen to compliment both the colour of the existing base architecture and carpet throughout the space.
Material specification was centred around complementing the existing finishes and giving the space a contemporary and timeless feel whilst being in line with the businesses updated branding and colour strategy.
The concept looked at the building, its form and its geometry with the idea to replicate the skyline and views across Canary Wharf and the city. The cubed geometry relates to the faҫade design and is translated through the configuration of the floor finish, and the fabric detail in joinery items.
Due to it being a high security building there were a number of additional procedures that had to be adhered to in order to complete a project in this part of London. This created logistical limitations but despite these challenges and long lead times, the design and delivery of the project were harmonious and on programme.
