Kotahi is New Zealand’s largest supply chain collaboration company. Proud of their brand and products, they engaged Unispace to help tell their story and portray their values through their new workplace.
Kotahi saw their move as a chance to adopt agile working behaviours. In the new workplace, each team member is allocated a locker and tote for belongings. Workstations are unassigned, however, teams are designated specific zones to sit within. The executive team adopted the agile model by moving away from enclosed office spaces to sit amongst their team, with meeting rooms nearby for confidential conversations.
In the front of house area, Unispace designed a bespoke branded panel wall to sit behind the reception desk, with delicately etched images of shipping containers, to immerse visitors and staff into the brand. Rust coloured metal panelling on the opposite wall continues to build on a Kotahi discourse, representing the underside of the ships the business uses.
Within the work area, a vibrant mural with decadent illustrations embeds Kotahi’s values and showcases the products they freight. Company colour tones of orange and black are complemented by muted greens and blues; a nod to the New Zealand landscape, while an ocean inspired carpet is featured in the boardroom and breakout area.
With a strong workplace culture, it was important for Kotahi to include social and wellbeing spaces. A bustling breakout space opens up into an atrium, to support connectivity between Kotahi employees and other companies within the building. An additional breakout café area includes audio visual capabilities for internal meetings. Here an exposed ceiling opens the space up, with suspended acoustic treatment to absorb sound.
Kotahi partners with other businesses, so we created a club lounge adjacent to the boardroom which connects to the social breakout space and is encouraged for use by partners when they visit.
