Building the Workplace of 2030: Insights from Jianhan Qiu, Principal of Strategy, Unispace Asia

At our recent Global Workplace Insights 2025 - A Moment of Clarity launch events in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, participants were invited to imagine the workplace of 2030. Using our workplace prototyping grid, teams mapped their vision of the spaces that will matter most in the decade ahead. The results were as imaginative as they were telling.

One prediction stood out: less routine work will happen in the office. Instead, the workplace will evolve into a hub for connection, culture and shared experience. No longer a venue for tasks alone, the office is being re-cast as a destination.

Wellbeing took centre stage

From nap pods and meditation corners to wellness suites and recharge zones, participants pictured environments designed to restore energy and support both body and mind. The guiding idea was simple: time in the office should leave people feeling better, not depleted.

Hospitality also featured strongly

Teams envisioned amenities more typical of hotels or private clubs—executive bars, chef-style kitchens, private dining rooms. This shift signals a rising expectation for workplaces to rival lifestyle destinations, mirroring the rise of third spaces as alternative venues for work.

The social heart of the office was equally clear

Kitchens and dining hubs were consistently flagged as essential to the employee experience—places where community grows, mentoring flows naturally, and belonging takes root.

To close these interactive sessions, participants voted for their favourite visions:

Winner, Singapore – “Deep Blue Trading”: A client-centred workplace dedicated to hospitality, featuring a private kitchen and bar, pet care facilities, and massage chairs.

Winner, Malaysia – “Blackpink in Your Area”: A Gen Z-inspired vision for 2030, with farm-to-table pantries, herb gardens, pickleball courts, rage rooms, Instagrammable social zones, and height-adjustable tables. Their concept underscored the next generation’s expectation for work to blend seamlessly with lifestyle, wellness and play.

The energy in both rooms spoke volumes. Feedback praised the sessions as fun, hands-on, and engaging—a refreshing way to spark new thinking about the future of work.

Together, these visions suggest a future where the workplace is defined less by efficiency and more by experience—where comfort, connection and wellbeing anchor the true value of coming together.
