AgTrade

AgTrade’s new workplace aligns with their values, engages staff and minimizes environmental impact through innovative design and use of natural materials.

A refreshed and sustainable approach

Unispace partnered with AgTrade, a global livestock, genetics and food security business, to design and construct a contemporary workplace for their global export agribusiness, headquartered in Brisbane.

Having secured subleased space in Brisbane CBD, 175 Eagle Street, the brief was to create a supportive workplace for years to come, to reuse the natural and earthy fit-out and to repurpose selected items from their previous space to minimize environmental impacts and reduce costs.

To align with AgTrade’s brand, we used natural materials and earthy color palettes to embody the agricultural landscape and create a captivating and inviting reception area, complemented by panoramic views of the Brisbane River.

Achieving a balance of function and form

The result is a contemporary and functional workspace using the pre-existing layout and furniture. Sustainable design features incorporated include solid wood in front-of-house areas, and laminate on joinery to match existing surfaces. Environmental quality was enhanced by reusing planters, and viable furniture re-upholstered to minimize waste. This environmentally conscious approach aligns with AgTrade’s mission to build creative and sustainable solutions.

We managed supply chain issues as interstate delivery delays were encountered for new furniture orders. However, the project saw minimal disruption as majority of products were reused. During construction we pivoted and replaced the flooring with a concrete-like tile finish instead of planned polished concrete due to a non-trafficable surface in situ. Despite this, the space was delivered on-time.

The workplace accommodates additional meeting spaces, client rooms and utility on a single floor, allowing for improved collaboration spaces for employees and clients in a refreshed, engaging environment.

The reception area and arrival experience showcases the Brisbane River views. The previous breakout area was converted using natural materials and tones selected to reflect the agricultural landscape and the business’ characteristics.

An enhanced workspace with environment at the forefront

Corporate social responsibility considerations during design and build aligned closely with AgTrade’s values while highlighting the importance of first impressions with a customer-centric reception area and functional workspaces on a single floor.

The consultative approach between Unispace and AgTrade was a successful formula, demonstrating our ability to be agile, overcome unplanned project constraints and incorporate stakeholder inspiration.

The new space provides AgTrade with a functional work environment optimizing productivity and fostering connections with peers and clients.
