Boston Scientific required our team to re-design their current workspace in Brussels, implementing their new global design standards. They decided to engage our team for this project based on the recent success they experienced with us on projects located in Milan, Warsaw, Clonmel and Paris.
The objective was to release 1,050 sqm of office space by implementing their global design guidelines, creating new flexible spaces that promote efficient work styles. The overall brief was to take the local client from a very cellular environment through to a smarter, more efficient way of working, enabling the implementation of the design guidelines.
We provided full strategy services for this project, undertaking local team engagement workshops, utilisation studies, space analysis, test fits and furniture audits.
We also provided change management services throughout the process. The approach to the design was to create a timeless, corporate, young and fresh aesthetic.
Employee wellness was a major factor in the design. There was an emphasis on creating an environment with plenty of light, live planting, agile desking and social gathering areas such as the Town Square and informal breakout spaces.
Challenges with sound within the main open plan areas were addressed through integrating acoustic solutions over desking areas that contributed to sound absorbtion while still allowing daylight to flow through the space. The right use of materiality was essential to achieve the overall aesthetic whilst still keeping to the overall budget.
