Ford
A fully branded workplace design that connects Ford’s values with its people, and its global workplaces.
Unispace has continued its successful collaboration with Ford after delivering an initial workplace together in Rome. We were next appointed to design and deliver the revitalisation of their Madrid workplace. Home to 400 of its employees, Ford wanted to update and renovate its workplace to optimise space efficiency and increase collaboration, all while adopting a zero-waste approach.
Design collaboration across Europe
During our first project in Rome, we identified Ford’s main brand pillars and translated them into a workplace design: functional, reliable, technological, and robust. To align the Madrid and Rome workplaces, we focused on creating a design that brought these pillars to life once again.
The Unispace Madrid and Milan teams worked closely together to understand the first project and the design guidelines that influenced its creation. The Madrid team was then able to ensure that similar material and colour palettes were used throughout, including on carpets, vinyl flooring, glasswork, and laminates.
Enhancing employee wellbeing
To further enhance the office experience and wellbeing of Ford’s employees, acoustic materials have been strategically installed throughout. Meeting rooms and other areas have been equipped with slalom acoustic and partition systems to provide an environment for private discussions.
The team created distinct areas within the space to provide a positive employee experience. Each floor includes a welcome area, connecting points, hydration zones, breakout areas, and storage, all to enhance employee wellbeing and facilitate seamless collaboration.
A zero-waste approach
A key driver from Ford was to adopt a zero-waste approach for the project. The aim was to reuse and recycle as much of the existing FF&E to sustainably deliver the workplace. Our design and delivery teams worked hand-in-hand to reuse existing chairs and tables within the scheme and recycled 90% of all other furniture that was removed.
Delivery excellence in an occupied building
One of the key project challenges was delivering the workplace within an occupied building without impacting Ford’s day-to-day operations. We worked closely with Ford to develop a strategic plan to deliver the project in three phases across the eight-month construction period. Together we have sustainably reinvigorated the existing workplace to optimise space efficiency and enhance the workplace experience for Ford’s employees. Our teams’ global expertise and local knowledge ensured smooth delivery of an effortlessly Ford environment, providing unity across their global workplaces.
