With an impending lease expiry, Hicksons took the opportunity to embark on a new era; in their physical address and a workplace model that would better support their people, practice and clients.
At a crossroads between the choice of a traditional or a more progressive approach to workplace design, Unispace guided professional services firm Hicksons into a workplace for the future.
Taking over the 24th floor in Tower One at Barangaroo in Sydney, Hicksons wanted a workplace that would attract and retain talent, nurture their culture and support a healthier work environment. It also needed to be flexible and provide opportunities for innovation.
Working side-by-side, we presented a number of design concepts to help steer the firm in a direction that would encompass their key requirements. The result is a workplace that seamlessly blends the traditional perimeter office, with inbound open plan elements.
The space includes a mix of informal and formal meeting areas. A flexible boardroom configuration opens into the adjoining breakout to form a beautiful event space. This is located within the vertical village, a dual height space with sweeping harbour views and maximum natural light. Intended as the social hub of the workplace, the village is used daily by staff and clients as a cafe and meeting area.
Bespoke sit-to-stand office pods create neighbourhoods for teams to easily integrate and come together. Vibrant blue and red tones distinguish the collaboration and social space, with neutral tones used in the work area.
Beautiful yet pragmatic; their new workplace is a synthesis of traditional and progressive workplace elements.
