Herbert Smith Freehills
Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF), an international law firm, has experienced a notable expansion. With an eye on future growth and evolving workstyles over the next six years, HSF sought a strategic redesign of their office space. Unispace was tasked with creating a dynamic, flexible environment that could accommodate this growth and enhance the work experience.
Strategic Vision: A Future-Oriented Workspace
HSF aimed to create a workspace that not only encouraged employee attendance but also aligned with future work trends. The objectives were clear: to develop spaces conducive to connecting, collaborating, socializing, and learning; to optimize the client experience; and to support events and gatherings. Additionally, fostering better collaboration and compliance between HSF and Prolegis was crucial. Unispace's strategy revolved around challenging the traditional office layout by introducing a flexible, needs-based design.
Design Approach: Flexibility and Collaboration at the Core
Unispace's approach involved a comprehensive review of the existing cellular offices to identify transformation opportunities. A key aspect was implementing a flexible design, ensuring that spaces could be easily reconfigured to suit the changing needs of different teams. By carefully planning the layout, Unispace facilitated team interaction and overcame structural challenges. Diverse work settings, including dedicated collaboration spaces, focus rooms, and hotdesking options, were introduced to support various workstyles and enhance overall productivity.
The new layout featured an expanded café area, accommodating lunchtime gatherings and events, fostering a sense of community and engagement. With more hotdesking options and focus rooms available, noise pollution in the open workspace was reduced, further boosting productivity.
Enhancing the Client Experience: Professionalism and Convenience
To optimize the client experience, the new design included dedicated client spaces such as business centers, ensuring a professional and comfortable environment for interactions. By promoting the office as a destination for significant client gatherings and events, Unispace supported large-scale events with appropriate facilities, enhancing HSF's reputation and client relationships.
Unispace's strategic and design transformation for Herbert Smith Freehills effectively addressed the evolving needs of their growing team and aligned with future work trends. By moving away from traditional layouts and implementing a flexible, needs-based design, the new office environment not only supports HSF's goals for growth and collaboration but also enhances the overall client experience. This transformation positions HSF as a forward-thinking organization, ready to adapt to the future of work while fostering a vibrant and engaging workplace.
