L'Oréal Groupe
A refreshed New Zealand identity for the world’s biggest beauty company, L'Oréal Groupe.
L'Oréal Groupe's Auckland workplace is the latest of their global workplace portfolio to adopt a modern, unassigned workstyle, to increase collaboration and connection between staff.
Engaged from the workplace strategy phase, Unispace worked closely with key L'Oréal Groupe's stakeholders to understand their way of working and workplace goals to create an improved, fit-for-purpose environment.
Aligning with L'Oréal Groupe's global climate commitment, Unispace ran a Carbon Calculator to track embodied carbon across the entire project, achieving a best-in-class A++ rating for embodied carbon emissions.
A key design move included optimising the floorplate to open it up to create more ad-hoc collaboration spaces, a variety of work-settings and improved kitchen and social spaces.
Drawing on the unique and ritualistic experience of beauty, the workplace is designed in a way that supports individual experiences and rituals, while bringing meaningful connection and shared experiences to the forefront. The new workplace increases connection, flexibility and provides L'Oréal Groupe's people with the tools to schedule their days and follow their rituals as they like.
Upon stepping into the reception, the experience is distinctly ‘L’Oréal’. Inspiration was drawn from the New Zealand native Kākā bird and its dawn-like colouring, resulting in a rich, warm colour palette. Capturing the uniqueness of New Zealand’s local culture and environment was a key design driver for the global brand.
The result is a uniquely Aotearoa reflection of the global brand.
