Our Singapore team has received a Singapore Good Design Award 2026 in the Spatial Design category for A Sustainable and Neurodiverse Workplace Designed for the Future.
Sustainability and neurodiversity are key considerations in our design strategies. We consider how workplaces can reduce their environmental impact while supporting different needs, preferences, and ways of working. This award recognizes our commitment to bringing these principles into the spaces we design.
Design Business Chamber Singapore (DBCS), organizer of the Singapore Good Design Awards, hosted the award presentation ceremony and gala dinner last week. Mary John, Principal, Design at Unispace Asia, represented Unispace to receive the award on stage.
Designing for people and the environment
For the award-winning project, our Singapore team brought sustainability and neurodiversity together as part of one workplace design strategy. Both informed how we approached the space, from giving people more choice in where and how they work to considering the environmental impact of materials and building systems.
This approach starts with understanding that people experience workplaces differently. A mix of settings supports focus, collaboration, and social interaction, while lighting, acoustics, accessibility, and wayfinding respond to different sensory preferences. These choices give people greater control over their working environment and contribute to a more inclusive experience.
That focus on wellbeing also extends to the environmental design of the workplace. Energy-efficient systems, responsible material choices, indoor air quality, and biophilic elements support a healthier environment for both people and the planet. Natural textures, planting, and a warm material palette reinforce this approach by bringing a sense of nature and calm into the workplace.
By considering human needs and environmental performance together, the team created a workplace designed to support different ways of working while remaining mindful of its long-term impact.
