Samsung Reinsurance is a leading global reinsurance provider, delivering risk management solutions and expertise to clients across international markets. As its Singapore operations continued to grow, the business identified an opportunity to expand its workplace footprint and create an environment that better supported its evolving needs.
Located within Samsung Hub, the project involved the expansion from an existing three-quarter floor occupancy to a full-floor. The objective was not only to accommodate future growth, but also to support a shift towards more flexible and activity-based ways of working while enhancing the experience for employees and clients alike.
Exploring the Right Workplace Solution
Before embarking on the workplace transformation, Samsung Reinsurance partnered with Unispace to evaluate a range of occupancy and workplace planning scenarios.
Through workplace planning exercises, multiple options were explored, including both three-quarter floor and full-floor configurations. This process enabled Samsung Reinsurance to assess future workplace requirements, optimise space utilisation, and determine the most effective solution to support long-term business objectives.
To ensure the workplace reflected employee needs and preferences, furniture voting sessions and showroom visits were conducted, providing staff with the opportunity to evaluate and influence key furniture selections while fostering early engagement and buy-in.
The outcome was a workplace strategy that aligned space requirements with operational needs while creating greater flexibility for the future.
Enabling a Modern Way of Working
A key objective of the project was supporting Samsung Reinsurance's transition from traditional workplace settings towards a more activity-based environment.
The workplace was designed to provide employees with a variety of settings that support focused work, collaboration, informal interaction, and team engagement. By introducing greater choice and flexibility, the new environment encourages employees to work in ways that best suit their tasks and workflows throughout the day.
To further enhance the workplace experience, a dedicated front-of-house client area was created to provide a welcoming and professional arrival experience. Expanded breakout spaces were also incorporated to support internal events, team gatherings, and informal collaboration, creating opportunities for greater interaction across the business.
Delivering Within a Compressed Timeline
The project involved extensive collaboration between multiple stakeholders, vendors, and building management teams, alongside careful integration with existing building infrastructure. Particular attention was required to coordinate around existing lighting systems and site constraints while maintaining programme certainty.
Through detailed planning, technical coordination, and effective site sequencing, Unispace successfully delivered the project within the accelerated timeframe while ensuring quality and operational continuity.
