JET Menulog

Future-proofed spaces designed to support Menulog’s exponential growth and a superior experience to compete for top tech talent.

A new HQ to support rapid business growth and attract top talent

Menulog is an app-based food delivery platform and subsidiary of global parent company, Just Eat Takeaway.com (JET), headquartered in Amsterdam.

JET, a global Unispace client, engaged our Australian team to develop a local workspace strategy to support planned growth and their move to a new head office in Sydney. Employee’s needs were at the forefront of the brief to support their ways of working, foster learning and collaboration, and build on the company’s culture.

Property selection was key to attract and retain top tech talent and resulted in head office space at prime Sydney CBD location, Barangaroo. The space uses existing fitouts and project budgets were apportioned accordingly.

The new space requirements ran in parallel with JET’s global rebrand, seeing Unispace develop brand concepts locally and bring the new brand to life in the built form.

Fit for purpose space

Barangaroo’s International Towers is the epitome of a progressive and sustainable office space and Menulog’s new HQ emulates this.

During the design phase, we comprehensively reviewed the existing furniture and equipment in the 5,000 sqm sublease space and recommended the sustainable reuse of 100% of workstations and lockers, majority of meeting rooms and leveraged the kitchen’s functionality. This approach significantly reduced landfill waste, reduced lead times and cost savings in furniture selection, production, and delivery overall ensuring the project was delivered on time.

Budget was strategically reallocated to create a bespoke 3-tiered auditorium, two central collaboration caves, meeting pods, an I.T. Tech Bar and kitchen redesign providing more amenities and a variety of collaborative and quiet spaces.

Local suppliers were engaged to produce new furniture required across the two floors, showcasing the new brand identity and supporting local businesses.

Due to Covid, Unispace leveraged local contractors and materials to minimise disruption and possible delays. Although the Barangaroo site was shut down for a week, the project was delivered on time and on budget.

Co-creating inviting spaces

Unispace created an inviting ‘destination’ workplace aligned to employee and clients’ needs. The new space has drawn Menulog employees back to the office as they enjoy individual and team-focused spaces including the I.T. Tech Bar.

Menulog’s project leveraged Unispace’s global reach and expertise, collaborating with the London Design team sharing real-time project insights and rebrand updates.

We advised on property selection, applying insights from visioning sessions through to test fitting and due diligence. Designing and coordinating curved surfaces, joinery, and engineering in a bespoke, high-spec building required utmost attention to detail and strong project management with local and global stakeholders.

Unispace is proud to have created a space with Menulog that their people want to work in, with a strong but playful injection of the company’s branding. The space speaks to the fusion of shared values and co-creation between leadership, staff, the CBRE Project Management team, specialised contractors and Unispace.
