65% of Italian employees showed reticence about returning to the workplace.

Italy has certainly had a difficult time since the pandemic first broke. The country has been one of the hardest-hit throughout the pandemic, so it’s perhaps no surprise that Covid restrictions have changed frequently.

For those businesses currently trying to encourage people back into the office, this is certainly another challenge to overcome. The hybrid approach is currently popular across the country, with just 20% of respondents indicating that they had fully returned to the workplace. So, just how can Italian employers encourage people back?

Shiseido, Milan's new workplace by Unispace

Following from the main report, The Reluctant Returner launched late last year, we take a deeper dive into the reluctance to return in Italy. With little research to date, Unispace embarked on a robust survey of over 3,000 employees and 2,750 employers across Europe, to understand the true motivations behind why employees are reluctant to return to the office.

Our research uncovers how to tackle this latest challenge employers are facing. Key insights include work/life balance, salary expectations, bonuses and promotions, commuting, mental and physical wellbeing, lockdown habits, familial responsibilities and most importantly: how employees truly feel about their workspace.
