After CBRE’s acquisition of New Zealand's largest valuation business, a larger, refreshed and brand-aligned workplace was required to support growth and productivity for the local Christchurch team.
In a strategic move into the rebuilt Christchurch CBD, CBRE consolidated multiple businesses into one high-performing workspace to support diverse business needs.
This workplace is more than just an office. The design is thoughtful and multi-functional, acting as a showcase, event hosting space and provides a variety of work-settings that support the company’s diverse range of staff and roles.
A key design objective was to create a balanced environment for all forms of work – from focus to client hosting. This involved careful planning around the open-plan work area requirements, zoning, high-quality acoustics and ensuring suitable meeting and focus rooms to support privacy and minimize noise.
A global real estate leader, CBRE have global sustainability standards that require their local offices to meet NZGBC Greenstar credentials. A sustainability strategy was developed throughout the design to incorporate these objectives, resulting in the Christchurch office to be the first CBRE workplace to achieve Greenstar in New Zealand (awaiting certification).
Client hosting and experience was a key design consideration with diverse front-of-house amenities, including a food & beverage, breakout space to support interaction, a 16 pax boardroom, several smaller meeting rooms and event-hosting capabilities.
High-quality, natural finishes of warm timber, stone and bespoke joinery create a durable, premium environment, reflecting the workplace as an investment in CBRE’s people. The result is a long-term Christchurch home that will support talent attraction and retention for years to come.
The project was delivered on-time and on-budget within a 12-week construction programme, a fantastic achievement from the local Christchurch Unispace design and construction project team.
