Senior FF&E (Furniture Fixtures & Equipment) Consultant, Emma Harvey-Gibbs features on one of New Zealand’s leading architecture and design online publications, Architecture Now, with an insight into the global world trends seen at international commercial furniture trade fair, Orgatec.
Hosted in Cologne, Germany, Orgatec attracts many of the world’s leading furniture designers to exhibit prototypes and new-to-the-market products. It’s generally viewed as the shop window to the future furniture trends that will hit the commercial consumer market in the months to come.
As Emma’s role within Unispace is to work with our designers and clients to identify, locate and specify appropriate furniture solutions, she visited Orgatec with a view to understanding what trends in workplace design are happening at a global scale. These learnings are shared between our global FF&E team so that all of our clients can benefit from the most up to date advice.
“It may well be the most interesting time for commercial design in years; a new wave of millennials are flooding into the workplace, and they’re influencing the entire workforce’s attitude to flexibility, mobility, sustainability and change…the modern workplace is rapidly becoming a theatre, and the furniture is the set.”
