Ireland, Clonmel
The new restaurant and work lounge at Boston Scientific in Clonmel provides a fresh, multi-purpose environment in which for their staff to dine, meet and connect.
A key point in the project brief was to provide a flexible environment which could adapt to serve a variety of functions: servery and restaurant, small informal meetings, all-employee meetings, touch down workspace, children’s waiting area and a semi-enclosed outdoor terrace.
A subtle but fresh palette of colours and textures was used to create a very comfortable and modern environment. An elegant wood finish was used extensively in elements such as the flooring, framed seating booths and a large feature canopy.
In order to allow the space to function effectively as a space for employees to hold informal meetings, acoustic solutions had to be implemented. This was achieved by a combination of suspended acoustic ceiling baffles, panels and rafts; along with some upholstered furniture items.
The logistics of refurbishing the restaurant space without shutting down the kitchen serving 900+ employees per day was quite a challenge. This was overcome by temporarily relocating the dining space to a nearby location within the facility, while still utilising the existing catering kitchen for food preparation.
Through all stages from design to construction, our team aided the client in a detailed change management process which was paramount to the overall sucess of the project.
