Lightspeed
Global software development company, Lightspeed, required a workplace refresh that supports collaboration and innovation – and boosts morale as a dog-friendly office!
Unispace were engaged to provide workplace design and construction services for Lightspeed’s workplace refresh, to translate global design guidelines into a modern workplace environment, reflective of their dynamic brand.
A global business, with customers in over 100 countries, Lightspeed’s workplace needed to enable flexible working - many of their staff work hours in alignment with North American time zones. To support the needs of staff we provided a variety of work settings, such as focus pods, phone booths, touchdown points and collaboration spaces. Unispace assisted with the transition from assigned desks to an agile, team neighborhood approach with a 0.8 sharing ratio.
The floorplate is unique – two buildings joined together means the space is long and narrow. Our designers cleverly used the structure to create a buzzing social zone at the front, collaboration, and innovation spaces throughout the center and quiet, focused zones at the end of the floorplate.
The vibrant café and breakout space is strategically placed at the entrance, creating an energetic and social environment for visitors and staff upon arrival. The café space can be transformed into an 80 pax town hall / event space with audio and visual functions to support presentations. Cafeteria seating, couches and a ping pong table provide an informal community space for staff to relax and unwind.
A quick and on-time construction completion was critical to maintain business continuity. For a company that thrives on innovation and creativity, it was crucial to bring their people back together in a space that enables them to do their best work. Construction was completed on-time and on-budget in only 8 weeks.
