In depth project management, stringent quality assurance and a design with a distinctive NZ feel bring nib’s new Auckland office to life.

After entering the New Zealand market in 2013, nib quickly grew to become one of the country's largest health insurers. Its 100-strong Auckland office needed a new fitout that would turn the company’s focus on innovation and engagement into a physical space. Staff had to feel comfortable in a workplace with a uniquely Kiwi flavour.

nib chose Unispace for our depth of expertise and project management capability and enlisted us to look after the strategy, design and delivery of its new space. Extensive workshops with different nib teams kept the office engaged and buzzing with anticipation as we introduced new solutions for staff concerns.

Light timber, plenty of natural light and domestic-style furniture gives the space a distinct New Zealand ‘bach’ feel. Spanning two floors, it is dotted with diverse meeting rooms that encourage collaboration and communication. Where possible, we used nib’s existing equipment to free budget for innovation elsewhere, such as the unmanned electronic reception area.

The heart and home of nib’s new environment is the kitchen, an open, relaxed environment to connect and socialise, overlooking nearby rooftop gardens.

Whether it was tendering to contractors or coordinating the installation of the stairwell, we managed all aspects of construction, keeping nib, its neighbours and the building owner informed with regular project meetings – and an open invitation to drop in at any time.

Our stringent and rigorous quality assurance process meant we handed the office over to nib on time, on budget, and ready for them to move in straight away.
