On 23 April, two energetic members of our London studio participated in the London Marathon in support of charities close to their hearts.
Project Manager Edmund Hutton and Business Development Manager Godwin Nsibandze pounded the streets of London along with a record number of 39,487 runners who completed the course, cheered along by a massive crowd which included The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.
Edmund ran the marathon to raise funds in support of the National Autistic Society who provide information, support and services to campaign for a better world for autistic people. Edmund ran the marathon in 4 hours, 8 minutes and raised a total of GBP 1,888.
Edmund said: "'The marathon was a fantastic experience - different from any other race I've done! For the first 18 miles it was a street party; for the next six it was tough but at the last two it was only the thought that I couldn't let down my supporters that prevented me from stopping."
Godwin ran the marathon in 6 hours, 46 minutes and when asked about his experience he said: "In summary…..excruciating! One of the most physical, physiological, and spiritual journeys I've ever embarked on. Your support truly made the difference between giving up and taking those last few extra steps to the finish line – thank you."
Godwin raised GBP 796 in support of Amref Health Africa, a charity working closely with communities to improve the health of women and children and reduce the high rates of maternal and newborn deaths in Africa.
Congratulations Edmund and Godwin - the effort and dedication taken to complete the marathon as well as raise funds for a charity close to your heart is truly inspirational!
